Trump Punishes Minnesota (Again)

"In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They're eating—they're eating the pets of the people that live there."

-Donald J. Trump, 47th president

It seems the Trump administration is again twisting the knife into Minnesota, as if recent events involving the deaths of two American citizens--Renee Good and Alex Pretti--wasn't enough "punishment" for a blue state that seemingly can't stand this administration.

We all remember the claim that made bars erupt into spontaneous laughter because of its sheer absurdity—the idea that Somalians and Ethiopians were "eating the cats and eating the dogs."

It’s a claim that would have made Goebbels turn bright red at the blatant audacity of it all.  What was terrifying was how quickly his base accepted it as "reality."

Trump's irritation with Minnesota isn't new; it’s a state that voted against him twice.

It's the state where the perpetual thorn in Trump's side, Ilhan Omar, who has displaced several other figures (all women) for the top spot of the Right's unyielding ire.

It used to be AoC that they seethed and raged against, and Michelle Obama and Hillary before that, but in the grand tradition of the misogynists' party, a new woman (Omar) has been crowned ("the worst") by mediocre men across the realm.

Remember: this is a party that proudly claims MTG and BOBO.

While Omar's Somali heritage only amplifies the right's disgust with her, who blather on about the "incompatibility" of cultures, when the only "culture" they represent is one of fast food, "paramount programming" (programming their brains) and cheap, gaudy, "shlock."

And it's not just Omar.  The administration clearly has a vendetta against Governor Walz, inspiring followers to harass him at his home and target his family.

They've gone so far as to drive by his home and shout awful things about his developmentally disable son, because in their minds, being awful to others is a form of "patriotism" (it is not).

Now, just a year into the new term, the rhetoric is all about how "the Dow Jones and S&P 500 are up," while AI rips through every job sector like a threshing machine and housing costs make it impossible for normal people to survive.

The focus on "fraud" in Minnesota is a masterclass in misdirection.

They want you focused on that while billions are shipped off to Israel and new deals bring Argentinian beef into the U.S., even as domestic farmers are on life support due to DOGE and USAID cuts.

It’s easy to whip up a frenzy over "illegals" while golden ballrooms are being built and the elite are partying with the FBI director.

Now, J.D. Vance is calling for Medicaid cuts in Minnesota—punishing the poor to fund the parties of the rich.

[SYSTEM_ADVISORY: THE_MIDTERM_REWIRE]

There is hope, but it requires a manual override at the ballot box.

All this stupidity can be undone in the Midterms.

While the "double down" crowd sinks further into self-loathing, the rest of the country—the ones who still have a functioning IQ—can vote for stable candidates who actually want to pass bills that help a working person rather than a plastic ketamine junkie on a private island.

We are already seeing the table flip. Democrats have seen massive gains in swing elections; Texas and Virginia have shifted.

The administration is getting so desperate they’re even talking about "deporting" Robert De Niro and other American icons just for speaking out.

The right's messaging is clear: more police state, more intrusive AI surveillance, and more private prisons that function as modern-day slavery to pay for billionaire tax cuts.

We could have a different future.

We could have lower rents, stop conglomerates from buying every single-family home to turn them into Airbnbs, and actually tax the "Epstein bros" to pay for reasonable healthcare. And we should have these things.

Take these Midterms as seriously as a general election. This is the intermission to a terrible movie where we can finally demand our money back.

The "old guard" will be out there voting in lockstep to keep their home values high and the youth impoverished.

They vote. Do you?'
